His father : Adrien Montémont(1881-1948) was born at Au-Dessus-de-Rupt, son of Jules Montémont, well-known geometrician and very appreciated from the local industrialists who entrust the plans of their factory to him.
Married to Jeanne Pierrel from Le Thillot in 1911, he is a director of weaving in Rupt, then cotton-broker in Remiremont since 1919.
After the war, the family left Rupt and
went to Remiremont where Jean’s father was a cotton
broker. Remiremont one of the most beautiful city
in the Vosges, built in the footpad of Parmont.
Jean was in the educational Establishment “Jules Méline” where he succeeded his Baccalaureate on July 1931, that is to say the year where he obtained the second prize for the competitive examination. He performed several drawings but he was attracted by the pastel.
His successive hit parades show that he was a studious pupil whose artistic vocation becomes wider until he was awarded in 1931 the prize for the competitive examination. He was given this prize on June 28th in Paris by the President of the Republic Paul Doumer.
